World Cup Idre Fjäll 2021 will be broadcasted in SVT

The organizers of Orienteering World Cup Idre Fjäll 2021 can proudly announce that Swedish Television (SVT) will broadcast ”live” from all three competitions days, 12-15 August 2021.

– I´m both very glad and satisfied that SVT will broadcast from our World Cup races, the Event Director Per Forsberg says. It´s not only important for us but also for our sport to be shown on Swedish Television. It will be fanstastic to offer exciting competitions in a very spectacular natur to the Swedish viewers.

Swedish Television will also show the European Championships from Switzerland in May and WOC 2021 in Czech Republic. All this will be shown live.

Speakers Corner #8 Tim Robertson

He made is WOC-debut only 16 years old

He has moved to Stockholm, Sweden and has an ambition to learn the Swedish language. That’s a big task but he is used to handling big tasks. He managed to defend the JWOC-gold in Sprint despite a very big pressure.
– I´m very proud of that performance in Rauland, Norway 2015 when I won that gold medal. Also happy to do it with my family onsite, Tim says. He was also the first ”Kiwi” to win a medal at WOC when he finished in Silver medal position in Riga 2018, only one second behind Daniel Hubmann, Switzerland.
In Speakers Corner you will meet some of the best orienteers in the world. Per Forsberg, the Event Director of OWC2021 Idre Fjäll, has invited both interesting and successful athletes for a longer conversation about their life as a top level orienteer. Every month we will publish two runners, one woman and one man.

Speakers Corner #7 – Andrine Benjaminsen

Andrine is a part of the Danish Elite Centre

In Speakers Corner you meet Andrine Benjaminsen from Lillomarka OL in Oslo, Norway. She’s been living and studying in Aarhus, Denmark for some years now and she is enjoying it.

– I think it’s a perfect fit for me to be here in Aarhus, Denmark with great facilities and opportunities to improve my skills, she says.
WOC 2019 on home soil in Norway was a disappointment but now she’s looking into the future with big hopes and dreams.

Speakers Corner #6 – Miika Kirmula

A silver medal that tasted like gold

Maybe Miika Kirmula and his team mates, all of them almost the same age, will bring Finland back to podiums and medals again because the Finnish men have been struggling for some years now. This is something Mikka Kirmula is well aware about.

– Yes, it´s true but I think the Silver medal we won at the relay at WOC 2019 in Norway meant a lot. Now we have got a sense of confidence into the team for the future, he says.

He lives in Joensuu in Karelia, Finland. A place with a lot of snow in the Winter but it doesn’t bother him at all, instead he embraces his club Kalevan Rasti which he believes is very professional in all aspects.
